Deep Drawing of AISI 304 Blanks with Polymer Punches Produced by Additive Manufacturing: Effects of Process Scalability

Rapid tooling is a methodology which aims to integrate additive manufacturing into the production of tools be used in casting, forming or machining processes. In forming, rapid applied metallic plastic that guarantee good performance small- and medium-sized batch production. However, most punches tested date have dimensions measured millimeters are therefore unsuitable for typical real-world industrial this study, with geometries designed application was investigated. A deep drawing process involving AISI 304 blanks created cups. Experimental numerical analyses were conducted measure quality cups produced behaviour involved. The results indicate when punch increase, more precise cup geometry (99% depth, 98% precision on fillet radius, roundness error equal 0.53%).
